As our minds linger on thoughts about what Good Friday represents, what has been done for us, we continue to reflect on what we feel God has called us to do. Our flesh desires comfort…this is lacking in Haiti, yet there are moments when the simplicity of life, the smiles on the faces of the people as they labor brings a level of comfort or peace that all is well, when our human eyes tell us otherwise. God is in control, He does have a plan. God gave His all for us, so that we could give our all for Him.
We also celebrated Quinn’s 9th birthday with a trip to the beach and a small birthday party in the evening. The team from VA not only celebrated with us but gave Quinn a beautiful bracelet made in Haiti. Dave and Quinn discovered several live coral reefs that were beautiful! We finished the day with a very special Good Friday service here at the house.
This morning we went to the opening of Respire Haiti Cafe and Boutique where we enjoyed homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast! This is a great group making a difference in the lives of children in Haiti (http://respirehaiti.org). We said good bye to the team from VA, are nursing some sun burns, started completing school work, began meetings with our City Team Leader from ReachGlobal and did laundry, using Ashlee’s machine (not quite like an American machine, but so much better than in a bucket). Thanks Ashlee!
We are looking forward to celebrating Easter tomorrow. Sunrise service is at 5 a.m. Not sure the “entire” Mathis family will make that, sleep is a bit of a challenge, but we will still celebrate our risen King!
“And this is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life”. 1 John 2:25
Happy Birthday Quinn, from Kayla.
Happy Birthday Quinn! Sounds like a perfect birthday celebration and cool to find a coral reef. We will be thinking of you and praying for you as we celebrate Easter together in spirit. ❤
Dave This is a test please let me know if you get this. Thanks Chris
