Sometime ago we read the book “Forgotten God” where Francis Chan pleads passionately for the church to live by the power of the forgotten God: the Holy Spirit. Calling Christians to more than just a better life, Chan said “he wants to live a life unexplainable without the Holy Spirit, so dependent on the Spirit that, he says, if he doesn’t come through, I’m screwed.” A strong statement that spoke to my core and I began to pray that God would give me that desire, that passion, that willingness to follow God unconditionally. We began to pray this for our family. Just last week on a very restless day with how things are moving forward with our partner development, Dave gently reminded me of what I had been praying…once again one of those moments where God uses my husband to speak to my heart saying “don’t you expect me to respond?” Thank the Lord for reminders through our loved ones! We really don’t want to be just satisfied to relate to God; finding comfort, support, and joy in Him, or simply be intrigued by Him, we want to be bent toward following Him unconditionally trusting He is in control.
This is about God and the work He is doing in Haiti, not us, and He will provide the necessary support for us to do His work. Please pray with us that we would rest in this truth!
Perfect message for me also today! Bless you Mathis family. May Jehovah Jireh teach us a deeper dependence on Him! Sending love & prayers. /trish
